Aberfeldy 21 Year Finca Ambrosia Limited Edition Single Malt 750 ML

Distilled on 14 November 2001 and aged for over two decades in a combination of fill and hogshead casks, the whisky was then aged for around 9 months in Malbec French oak casks from the Finca Ambrosia Single Estate vineyard in Argentina.
Finishing is the malt master’s art of taking a whisky that has spent most of its life in one type of cask and placing it in another type of cask to add a dimension to its flavour. The aim is to use this cask type to complement and enhance the character of Aberfeldy, not mask it.

Malt Master Stephanie Macleod carefully monitors the maturation and flavour development in each cask until the desired flavours are achieved, at which point the whisky is considered ready for bottling.

Nose : The aroma of this Finca Ambrosia cask finish is both delicate and complex, opening with notes of sweet and toasted cereals, with hints of sage and rosemary. It develops on ripe strawberries, drizzled with Highland honey and delicately lifted by hints of blackcurrant. It fades into floral notes of rose and violet, with a hint of cinnamon spice in the background.

Palate : On the palate, the fruit resonates, calming to give way to creamy vanilla and a soft finish.

Overall : Notes of Malbec, blackberry, plum and black cherry. Muted flavours of leather and mild tobacco spice.
