Whitehall Lane 2017 Whitehall Leonardini Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
Whitehall Lane Winery and Vineyards is a local family-owned and operated winery in Rutherford Appellation of Napa Valley, dedicated to growing and making premium, world-class Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Estate wines, while providing excellent hospitality with Napa Green certified and sustainable practices.Whitehall Lane was founded in 1979 but the history of the soil cultivation dates back two centuries. In the mid 1800s, Napa Valley settlers were drawn to the deep, loamy soils and ideal climate, planting high quality grape vines at the Whitehall Lane Winery site. A barn constructed in the early 1900s for equipment storage is still used today. In 1979, two brothers started the winery and directed their winemaking efforts successfully to Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. They named the winery after the road that runs along the south border of the property, Whitehall Lane. In 1993, the Leonardini Family of San Francisco and Saint Helena purchased the Whitehall Lane estate. Winemaking practices have evolved, state-of-the-art technology has been implemented, a new barrel-aging program has been instituted and six additional vineyards have been acquired since the acquisition. Second and third generations are now contributing to the success of the winery and vineyards as well. In its short history, Whitehall Lane has developed into a world-class winery. The efforts of the Leonardini Family are evident in the recent run of accolades from wine publications but are even more apparent in the beautifully made, elegant wines that are offered today.

Tasting Notes
This is classic Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine has a deep, intense color and a distinct fruit center that begins with rich black currants, cedar, mixed berry crumble, graphite, chocolate, and a touch of licorice on the nose. Its balance and mid-palate are most notable, providing long plush tannins alongside its dense fruit character. On the palate, it delivers blackberries, toasted brioche, black olives, walnuts, and a mlange of baking spices and vanilla on the finish. The good underlying tannin structure, complexity and ample fruit guarantees rewards to the patient collector.
