Macphail 2016 Toulouse Pinot Noir
MacPhail Wines are a collaboration between Tim and Sabrina Persson, 5th generation Hess Family, and well-known Winemaker Matt Courtney, who share a common belief that wine is art with a splash of science. The little red wagon symbolizes timeless design and exceptional quality. Tim and Sabrina hope their children will have many adventures in their little red wagon as they take MacPhail into the next generation. The wines are an exploration of the Sonoma and Anderson Valley coastline with the goal to preserve artisanal techniques and capture all the potential in the glass.Located in what is deemed the gateway to the Sonoma Coast, the Sangiacomo Lakeville Vineyards were planted by the Sangiacomo family in 1990 during the rebirth of the Petaluma Gap region. Wind and fog cover the vineyards in the early morning and late afternoon hours, which allows for extra hangtime and helps build complexity of flavor in the grapes. This environment combined with the Sangiacomo familys passion and appreciation for the land, help to produce some of the most premium Pinot Noir grapes of the region.

Tasting Notes
The wine is brooding and full of energy with elegant but firm tannins and floral aromatics that strike me as a pretty. Fleshy and full-bodied, this is a well-structured wine with distinctive acidity that supports beautiful black and red cherries with classic Anderson Valley notes of earthy spice.
