B. Leighton 2017 Olson Brothers Vineyard Petite Verdot

VINTAGE NOTES 2017 was a fantastic year for making wine with a cool spring and a fair amount of rain. Washington had an ideal spring for healthy vines. The moderate temperatures during summer were perfect for small clusters and yet delayed veraison into the fall where we had a consistent ripening season that allowed us to hang the fruit for perfect tannin and flavor without losing acidity or acquiring too much alcohol. Overall it was a vintage to remember.

CURRENT & PAST SCORES 94 Points, Jeb Dunnuck (v2016) …It has a great bouquet of white pepper, chocolatey dark fruits, tobacco, and a kiss of violets to go with a full-bodied, incredible elegant profile on the palate. You dont find Petit Verdot with this level of finesse very often, and it has silky tannins, good mid-palate concentration, and a great finish. Its another stunning wine from Leighton Id be thrilled to drink over the coming 10-15 years. 91 Points, James Suckling (v2016) A very good petit verdot with lots of ripeness and focus. The tannins frame the wine nicely. Its flavorful and interesting. Drink now.
