Originally aged in refill and first-fill American Oak Hogsheads, the individual Malts that make up this whisky were then blended before a final finish in smaller 200 liter fresh Bourbon Barrels. This second period of maturation and marrying of flavor adds further layers of fresh fragrant smoky oak to the original peaty aromas and a touch of sweetness and heightened vanilla overtones on the palate.

We have named this whisky after Caisteal Chamuis, also known as Knock Castle or Castle Camus, was once a strategic stronghold that helped Clan Macleod secure their hold over the Sleat peninsula on Skye, with the first elements of the castle raised in the 13th century on the site of an Iron Age fort known as Dun Thorabhaig. The castle ruins that we see today are testament to its rich and storied history.
