Ch Pennautier Cabardes Rg

Built under Louis XIII by Bernard de Pennautier, Treasurer of the States of Languedoc, Chteau de Pennautier (a historical monument) has been in the family since 1620. The vineyard has been entirely made over since the 1960s and the higher plots of land are now planted with vines. The direct heirs of the Pennautier family, Nicolas and Miren de Lorgeril are the 10th generation of winegrowers since the estate was founded. They took over in 1987. The domaine is situated on cool hillside slopes, the key to achieving a ripe yet elegant style of wine in this hot, dry region. This is run on the principle of sustainable agriculture.

Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes : Dark red-purple colour, almost black in its youth. A very pure flavour of ripe red & black fruits (cherries, blackberries, mulberries). On the palate, there is an intense fruitiness which is enhanced by a tannic structure, typical of the bordelais grape varieties. The wine is intended to be drunk in its youth, but can age over 3 to 4 years.
