Our story started in 1972 with a vision to plant grapes along the diverse terrain of Sonoma County’s rolling hills. Chalk Hill Winery lies within a small AVA which bears the same name and has been producing highly acclaimed wines led by its flagship Estate Chardonnay. Meticulous attention to detail, decades of clonal research, sustainable viticulture practices and a minimalist approach to winemaking all combine to produce wines of character, richness and elegance. Perhaps no other winery captures the casual luxury of Sonoma County better than Chalk Hill Estate. Founded nearly four decades ago, this spectacular 1300-acre property features 300 acres of vineyards, wilderness areas, winery, hospitality center, culinary garden, residence, stables, equestrian pavilion, sports fields, fishing and swimming ponds, and guest houses. The winery’s vineyards are thoughtfully woven through the native foliage and contoured to fit the intricate terrain. More than two-thirds of the Chalk Hill Estate remains uncultivated. The higher elevations offer stunning views of the Russian River Valley to the west and the Mayacamas Mountains to the east.

Tasting Notes:
The 2022 Russian River Valley Chardonnay opens with aromas of spice, baked pear, brioche, hazelnut, vanilla, and a touch of pineapple. The palate is smooth and rich, offering toasted almond and peach, with refreshing acidity and flinty minerality on the finish.
