Colome 2022 Autentico Malbec
Bodega Colom: A Legacy of Excellence
Founded in 1831, Bodega Colom is believed to have been established by Nicols Severo de Isasmendi y Echalar, the Spanish Governor of Salta. In 1854, his daughter Ascensin and her husband, Jos Benjamn Dvalos, introduced the first pre-phylloxera Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon vines from France to Colom. Remarkably, grapes from these original vineyards are still used in Colom Reserva wines today.
For 170 years, the estate remained with the Isasmendi-Dvalos family until it was acquired by Donald and Ursula Hess in 2001. Their search for the perfect terroir led them to the Calchaqu Valleys, where they found not just exceptional winemaking conditions but also a second home. Since then, they have driven Coloms modern evolution, fostering both winemaking excellence and community development. Their contributions include a village community center, church, school improvements, and housing projects, making Colom the primary source of employment for local residents.
Today, Colom Winery is a leading Argentine producer of premium wines, crafting over 500,000 liters annually and exporting to 40+ countries worldwide.
