Fontanafredda Raimond Barb Red

The history of Fontanafredda is a noble one. It began in 1858 after the unification of Italy, when the countrys first king, Vittorio Emanuele II, purchased this beautiful estate in Piedmonts Langhe region. Here he started producing wine from native varietals, Dolcetto, Barbera and Nebbiolo, which later developed into a commercial business under the direction of the Kings son, Count Mirafiori. Fontanafredda released their first Nebbiolo labeled as Barolo with the 1878 vintage.

Tasting Notes

The colour is deep ruby-red when young, it tends to garnet-red on ageing. It has a rather intense, characteristic nose which is flowery and fruity at the same time, with nice light overtones of wood, spices and vanilla. The flavour is full, persistent, nicely dry and velvety.
